Clumsy you and Corporates!!
If you are clumsy and you are going to join the corporate sector in your near future or will be doing your internship, this is just for you.
The amount of clumsiness I have, I don't know if anyone is going to match me. I fall frequently and gravity loves me. This makes me do many mistakes whenever I start something new.
To overcome this problem I have to be well prepared for the challenges I might face.
The problem can be a smaller or bigger one. Clumsy nature of a person magnifies it to a higher extent. The problem can be the first excursion with friends like what to pack and how to travel or the problem can be with having the first pet like how to care and what to give them to eat. Well, now the internet has evolved so much that people just type whatever problem they have and get certain results. Earlier, our 'go-to' for every problem was our mother and just one question was enough 'kaise karu' (how to do it?) and she used to take care of everything.
First of all, if you are joining the corporate sector near future, congrats. If you are reading it for learning the purpose, bingo! You are shaping your personality. Keep going.
These are not the dos and don'ts rather I am trying to tell you my mistakes I did and want you to make sure that you do new mistakes. Please don't repeat these.
- Respect your work: Don't get frustrated too quickly if they just give you ample of sheets to get the photocopies of those done. Trust me! It is frustrating but do it. They are just checking your patience and your managing skills. They think you have come from college and you lack respect for your work and they are right, you do. You will eventually notice that after some time they will change the work they are providing you and will allow showing your skills but firstly warm-up.
- Response: This is the follow-up part of respecting your work. As soon as you complete the task of the day, no matter what sort, make them aware of it. Acknowledge them that the work has been completed and you have done it in the most optimum way possible. This will make them notice your progress and the warm-up phase will end soon.
- Don't brag: It's wonderful to share your life achievements and sharing by yourself is the only way to tell others of what you have achieved so far but don't brag about it. You have just joined them and you are still learning from them. Being a recorder and telling things, again and again, will not do any good for your progress but will give a message of arrogant behavior of yours that you are not interested in learning but in boasting.
- Regularity: You need to be regular to be an active participant of the company. You are the company's part now and every part is important. If the part does not work well then it has to be removed. I think you understood what I mean.
- Cleanliness: Well, to be very honest, this was not my mistake. I observed someone else and I dare not reveal the name. Remember, you are clumsy from your habits, don't let your appearance reflect it. Look neat and approachable. 'Don't judge a book by its cover' is a saying. We don't say practically practiced things as saying. People judge you by your appearance, so until and unless you are not interested to talk to anyone, please be neat.
- Help and deny: Always try to help others if you can but being a grown-up, learn to say no if you think your work might get affected. Don't think too much. If inside your head it is not a big yes then just don't do it. Simply deny.
- Talk to people: Talk to everyone but don't tell things to anyone. No one in the corporates is concern about your life after office. If someone is coming to you showing interest then he/ she is just coming for you to know your weak points and beat you with those. Not being a crime show fan, I don't mean you should never trust anyone but before telling things about you to anyone make sure that person would not do any harm to you. Better make friends from other fields. Sound absurd! Then make sure you are good friends.
Oh woah! Several points!! Looks like I have prepared for it in advance and trust me!! I have. I was intern in a very prestigious company in our country and all these are based on true stories. I hope you all would learn something out of it. For those who are already working in corporate might share their mistakes and cautions as well for the others to read it.
Thankyou Shreya for sharing your experiences and guiding us .
